Who cares?
Today I overhead a co-worker say "Who cares? In 150 years, no one will even know that we existed." It sounded like exactly the kind of despair I read about the night before in an excerpt from The Dynamics of Spiritual Life by Richard Lovelace the last night with my small group.
Lovelace talked about the three responses to the startling recognition that there is a God and I don't measure up. The first was despair. The second was lying to oneself, and the third was faith in Christ's righteousness.
I am so glad that God has saved me from despair. Though a billion years pass before God, he has said that my life is meaningful to him, so I have purpose and my life has meaning.
