Small Group Transition
Our small group just finished the study on Galatians from Redeemer Presbyterian Church NYC. It has been a great study. I would recommend it to anyone. It will and should be controversial at times, but the Gospel is controversial.
Now the question is, what's next? One in the group suggested an Old Testament book. I think studying the OT would be great. However, OT books are long, and they need a lot of explaining. OT interpretation is a good bit harder than NT interpretation. In addition, I am at a dispensational church with the OT has generally not been correctly eschatologically adjusted.
What I would really like to do is to teach the history of redemption and give people a framework for understanding the OT. The problem is that I don't have tons of time to spend on preparation and I would prefer the format to be discussion oriented instead of lecture oriented.
Does anyone know of anything like this?
I would really love to do something like this. Discovering the Gospel is a ground-breaking event for people. Discovering biblical theology is another ground-breaking event. I'd love to give this to my group. I have so enjoyed getting to know them and see them grow.
In addition to a new study, I hope that I can get re-energized about trying to foster community. It is so hard when we are so separate geographically. Our habits of life just don't bring us together.
